1. What is WintegoGuardian?

WintegoGuardian is a silent Windows security monitoring application built for individuals, small businesses, and IT administrators who need to keep a close eye on what is happening on their Windows computers — without complicated setup or expensive enterprise tools.

It runs quietly in the background and watches three key areas of your system: USB devices, clipboard activity, and file system changes. Everything is logged locally on your machine, and you can get instant email alerts when something suspicious is detected.

🔌 USB Monitor

Detects every USB storage device plugged in or removed. Records device name, drive letter, serial number, and manufacturer. Whitelist trusted devices so you only get alerts about unknown ones.

📋 Clipboard Monitor

Captures everything copied to the clipboard every few seconds. Automatically classifies content — plain text, URLs, passwords, code, emails, phone numbers, or credit card numbers. Flags entries matching alert keywords like "password", "secret", "api key".

📁 File Monitor

Watches folders you choose for file activity — created, modified, or deleted. Special attention to sensitive file types (.pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .py, .env, .key, .pem). Double-click any event to open its exact location.

📊 Dashboard

Clean, dark-themed desktop dashboard with five tabs: Overview (live stats and recent events), USB, Clipboard, Files, and Settings. Live metric cards, color-coded event feed, accessible from system tray.

📧 Daily Reports

Every day at your chosen time (default 6:00 PM), WintegoGuardian automatically generates a full security report. With Anthropic API key, AI-powered security analysis is included. Reports saved locally and can be emailed automatically.

4. System Requirements

5. Installation

Installing WintegoGuardian is simple and takes under one minute.

Run WintegospyWintegoGuardian_Setup.exe
Read and accept the License Agreement
Choose install folder (default: C:\Program Files\Wintegospy\WintegoGuardian\)
Click Install and wait for files to copy
On Finish page, check "Launch WintegoGuardian now" and click Finish
First Time Setup wizard appears — enter admin password (minimum 4 characters)
Optionally enter email and SMTP details for alerts
Choose a folder to watch (e.g. your Documents folder)
Click "Start Monitoring" — app goes to system tray and starts working

Note: WintegoGuardian automatically registers itself to run at Windows startup during installation. You will find a red shield icon in your system tray after the first launch.

6. How to Use It

📊 Opening the Dashboard

Right-click the red shield icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner of the taskbar) and select "Open Dashboard". Enter your admin password when prompted.

✉️ Setting Up Email Alerts

Dashboard → Settings tab
Enter your Admin Email (where alerts are sent)
Enter SMTP details (Gmail: host=smtp.gmail.com, port=587, use an App Password)
Click "Test Email" to confirm
Click "Save Settings"

📁 Adding Folders to Watch

Go to Dashboard → Files tab → click "Add Folder" → browse to any folder → starts watching immediately.

🔑 Whitelisting a Trusted USB Device

Plug in device → go to USB tab → select its row → click "Add Selected to Whitelist". That device will no longer trigger alerts.

🔒 Changing Your Password

Go to Settings tab → Admin section → click "Change Password" → enter old password, then new password twice.

7. Where Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your computer. Nothing is sent to WintegoSPY or any third party.

8. Uninstalling

Open Settings → Apps (or Control Panel → Programs)
Find "Wintego Guardian" and click Uninstall
Follow the uninstall wizard
You will be asked whether to delete your monitoring data — choose Yes to remove everything, or No to keep your logs

Note: Uninstalling removes all application files, startup entries, shortcuts, and registry keys. Your data in Documents\WintegoGuardian\ is only removed if you choose Yes.

9. Privacy & Legal

WintegoGuardian collects data only on the machine where it is installed. It does not connect to any WintegoSPY servers. Your monitoring data never leaves your computer unless you configure email alerts using your own SMTP account.

You are responsible for ensuring your use of this software complies with applicable privacy laws in your region. Only monitor systems you own or have explicit permission to monitor.
