2. What the App Does

🌐 Website Blocking

WintegoFocus adds entries to your Windows hosts file, redirecting blocked domains (facebook.com, youtube.com, tiktok.com) to 127.0.0.1 — making them unreachable in any browser. Works across Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and any other browser.

📱 App Blocking

Monitors all running processes every 2 seconds. If a blocked application (Steam, Discord, Spotify) is detected, WintegoFocus automatically terminates it and shows a notification. Fully customisable block list.

⏲️ Focus Sessions (Pomodoro Timer)

Start timed focus sessions from the dashboard or system tray. Classic Pomodoro: 25 minutes work, 5 minutes break. After 4 sessions, a longer 15-minute break. All timings fully adjustable.

🤖 AI Productivity Coach

When you configure your Anthropic API key, Claude generates short, personalised motivational messages each time a block is triggered. At day's end, Claude writes a coaching insight based on your productivity data.

📧 Daily Reports & Email Alerts

Automatic daily report at your chosen time (default 6:00 PM). Includes total blocks, focus session statistics, hourly breakdown, and AI analysis. Can be emailed automatically via Gmail.

6. Installation Guide

Run the Installer — Double-click WintegoSpyWintegoFocus_Setup.exe. Click Yes on UAC prompt.
Accept the License — Read EULA and click I Agree.
Choose Install Location — Default: C:\Program Files\Wintegospy\WintegoFocus\. Click Install.
First-Run Setup Wizard — Guides you through admin password, block categories, work schedule, and email alerts.
App is Ready — Dashboard opens and WintegoFocus starts blocking immediately. System tray icon appears.

7. Uninstallation

Method 1 — Windows Control Panel: Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Search for WintegoFocus > Uninstall

Method 2 — Start Menu: Start Menu > WintegoSPY > Uninstall WintegoFocus

What Gets Removed: EXE files, shortcuts, registry entries. Website blocks are automatically removed from hosts file.
What Is Kept: Your data folder at Documents\WintegoFocus\ (focus history, reports, config) is kept for safety.

WintegoFocus stores all data locally on your device. No usage data is sent to WintegoSPY servers.

❓ Why does the app need Administrator rights?

WintegoFocus modifies the Windows hosts file to block websites. The hosts file is a protected system file that requires Administrator access.

❓ Will it slow down my computer?

No. WintegoFocus is very lightweight. It checks running processes every 2 seconds and the scheduler checks the time every 30 seconds. CPU and memory usage is minimal.

❓ Can I use it without the AI feature?

Yes. All AI features are completely optional. If no Anthropic API key is set, WintegoFocus uses a built-in library of 20 motivational messages instead.

❓ What if I forget my admin password?

Open Documents\WintegoFocus\config.json in Notepad and change the admin_password field. Or delete config.json to reset all settings to defaults.

❓ Does it work on all browsers?

Yes. Because blocking works at the operating system level via the hosts file, it affects all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera) and any other application that uses the system's DNS resolver.

❓ What happens to the hosts file when I uninstall?

WintegoFocus automatically removes all its entries from the hosts file during uninstall. Your hosts file is also backed up on first use at Documents\WintegoFocus\hosts.backup.
