Installation Guide

  1. Download WintegoSpyWintegoFamily_Setup.exe from www.wintegospy.com
  2. Right-click the installer and choose "Run as administrator"
  3. Follow the setup wizard โ€” click Next through each screen
  4. Read and accept the WintegoSpy License Agreement
  5. Choose installation folder (default: C:\Program Files\Wintegospy\WintegoFamily)
  6. Select Desktop shortcut and Start Menu options
  7. Choose whether to run at Windows startup (recommended)
  8. Click Install โ€” files will be copied
  9. Click Finish โ€” first-run setup wizard opens automatically
  10. Complete the 4-step wizard: child name, screen time limits, block settings, notifications
  11. The parent dashboard opens โ€” your child's computer is now protected

  • Step 1 - Child Setup: Enter child's name and create parent password (min 6 characters)
  • Step 2 - Screen Time and Bedtime: Set daily limit, bedtime hour, and action (Lock or Shutdown)
  • Step 3 - What to Block: Choose website categories and USB blocking
  • Step 4 - Notifications: Enter email, Gmail SMTP, and Telegram bot details

How to Set Up Telegram Alerts (Optional but Recommended)

  1. Open Telegram on your phone and search for @BotFather
  2. Type /newbot and follow instructions โ€” receive a Bot Token
  3. Search for @userinfobot and send /start to get your Chat ID
  4. Enter both values in the Notifications step or Settings tab
  5. Click "Test Telegram" to confirm โ€” you'll receive a message on your phone

Uninstallation

To remove WintegoFamily from the computer:

  • Go to Windows Settings > Apps (or Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs)
  • Find "WintegoSpy WintegoFamily" and click Uninstall
  • Alternatively, run WintegoFamily_Uninstall.exe from the installation folder
Your monitoring data in Documents\WintegoFamily is kept by default โ€” delete the folder manually if you wish to remove all data.

Privacy and Data Storage

All data collected by WintegoFamily stays on your computer. Nothing is sent to WintegoSpy's servers. All monitoring logs, screenshots, reports, and configuration are stored in:

Frequently Asked Questions

โ“ Can my child see WintegoFamily running?

WintegoFamily runs silently in the system tray. In "silent mode" (enabled by default), it does not appear in the taskbar. Only a small shield icon appears in the tray.

โ“ What happens if my child opens a blocked app?

The app is closed immediately and a child-friendly popup appears explaining it is not allowed, with instructions to ask a parent.

โ“ What if I forget my parent password?

Open Documents\WintegoFamily\config.json and find the parent_password field. Edit it directly with any text editor.

โ“ Does website blocking work in all browsers?

Yes. WintegoFamily blocks at the Windows hosts file level, which affects Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, Brave, and all other browsers.

โ“ Does WintegoFamily slow down the computer?

No. WintegoFamily is designed to be lightweight, using minimal CPU and RAM with all monitoring tasks running on background threads.
